While jamming and bottling, I have been staring at the piles of seeds and nuts which have been dumped on the compost, thinking what about growing fruit trees from seed, I would love to know what people have tried and what has been successful
There is a great discussion on a permaculture website discussing the pros and cons. Another website named Mother Earth News says peaches, nectarines and apricots are way to go with seeds. They also give advice about cracking the seeds, mine is wear eye protection! This interesting blog, Foodnstuff, talks about diversity and embracing the fact that if you plant by seed it may be weak, strong, produce well or not at all but this is natural! Check out Youtube there are countless videos on techniques but my favourite is the wet paper towel on the plastique zip lock on the window seal!
